Whitechapel

Whitechapel Computer Works was a home-grown entry into the burgeoning field of Unix workstations during the early and mid-1980s. Funded with venture capital seed money and grant money from the UK government they were able to produce a marketable workstation within one year of founding. Unlike many companies who standardised on the Motorola 68000 CPU architecture, Whitechapel selected and utilised CPUs from National Semiconductor. The company had moderate success but eventually fell into administration in the late 1980s.
